Cefixime Tablet is used in the treatment of wide variety of bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections. It is a cephalosporin antibiotic. Drug comes in form of oral capsule, oral tablet and chewable tablet.

Infections of urinary tract, skin and ear, bone, blood, abdomen, genital and lungs (pneumonia). Cefixime 200 mg is also used to prevent infections after surgery. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

Cefixime 200 mg dose and Precautions

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women.

This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

This tablet is not recommended for use if you have a known allergy to Cefixime or Beta-lactam Antibiotics.

It may cause an imbalance in the microbial flora of the large intestine, decreasing the gut-friendly bacteria and promoting the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium.

Cefixime tablet should be used with caution in patients with an impaired kidney function due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

This tablet is not recommended for use in children less than 6 months of age.

Prohibition / Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Cefixime tablet is a contraindication. In addition to that this tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:
